2014 Firefly Forecast – mostly horizontal, 50% chance of napping

Hello Fireflies!

We have awoken from our year-long hibernation just in time to announce that yes, Cabana Hammock will be returning to the woods of Firefly in 2014! As usual, we will be focusing on the essentials – soothing sounds, tasty mixed beverages, and plenty of stress-free time in our bevy of hammocks. We’ll be in our usual spot by the stream, across the path from Bring-a-Cup. Look for the hammocks.

Every day at Firefly from noon-6pm, we have an eclectic selection of DJs, playing music specially selected for horizontal listening. In the afternoons, the lovely Leslie will once again be hosting Happy Hour with specially prepared cocktails – past years have featured fresh Mojitos, Dark and Stormies, and the mysterious Coco Loco.

In keeping with our theme of relaxation, Cabana Hammock is decentralized, loosely organized, and created by the community. If you support our noble goals, there are a few things you can do to help out:

1. Bring Us Hammocks – we have a bunch already, but we can always use more! The more hammocks we receive, the larger our communal chill space will be, so that we can accommodate all those tired, overworked Fireflies in need of a siesta.

2. Bring Us Beverages – If you’d like to help out with our afternoon Happy Hour, we will gratefully accept all donations of spirits, mixers, and ice, and use them to help pacify the thirsty masses.

3. Play Chill Tunes – Whether you’re an experienced DJ, or just a music lover with an MP3 player, if you think you can prepare an hour of hammock tunes, we’d like to offer you a chance to share your sounds. All genres and skill levels are welcome – if you’d like to play at our camp, please look at our Music page to see the current schedule.

We also welcome daytime events that can benefit from our shared community space. In the past Cabana Hammock has played host to bachelorette parties, spa treatments, “dramatic” readings, and even the occasional dance party. If you have an awesome idea in need of a home, drop us a line at cabanahammock@gmail.com.
